The Fairfax Stampede were the 57-26 winner over the North Mustangs when they last played one another back in November of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. Fairfax was beaten by North 73-37 on Thursday. Fairfax was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-17.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead North to victory, but perhaps none more so than Xxylina Flores, who scored 23 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Flores has scored at least 25% of North's points. Saniyah Downing was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with eight rebounds and six assists.
This is the second loss in a row for Fairfax and nudges their season record down to 5-6. As for North, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-7 record this season.
Fairfax will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Cactus Shadows at 5:30 p.m. on January 9, 2024. North won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Central at 3:00 p.m. on December 29th. Hopefully Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Thursday.
