The Milby Buffs lost against the Heights Bulldogs back in January of 2016, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Milby ended up on the wrong side of a rough 48-24 walloping at the hands of Heights. Milby was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-7.
Milby's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kaylee Cerna, who scored four points, and Alanys Perez who scored four points.
Heights got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Mira Johnson out in front who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 steals. Johnson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 14 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jazmyne Gilbert, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Milby has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for Heights, they pushed their record up to 10-6 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Milby will challenge Sharpstown at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Sharpstown comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 18 points in their last seven games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Heights, they will head out on the road to face off against Westside at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
