Madison Christian's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They walked away with a 5-0 win over Tree of Life Christian.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Berne Union). They were the clear victors by a 29-2 margin over Wellington School on Monday. The Rockets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by ten runs or more this season.
Josilyn Hedges and Reese Besco made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Hedges pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Besco tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. At the plate, Hedges got on base in all six of her plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs, while Besco got on base in three of her six plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. What's more, Hedges posted three hits, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Rylee North was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with five runs, two stolen bases, and five RBI. Those five runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sophia Williams, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base.
Berne Union was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .481. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Madison Christian pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Berne Union, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-5.
Madison Christian suffered a grim 12-1 defeat to Berne Union in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
