Marie Brignac spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and seven unearned) runs on nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Ascension Christian saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abigail Jennings, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that Jennings hit this season.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Hanson Memorial and Vermilion Catholic, and Hanson Memorial kept the tradition alive. Hanson Memorial sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 13-11 win over Vermilion Catholic on Thursday.
The team relied heavily on Camren Rochel, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Emily Faucheux, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.

Ascension Christian's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-6-1. As for Hanson Memorial, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-8.
Saturday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Ascension Christian has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .499. However, it's not like Hanson Memorial struggles in that department as they've averaged .515. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
