It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Blue River Valley Vikings ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They managed a 52-48 win over Union County. The win was just what Blue River Valley needed coming off of a 61-24 loss in their prior game.
Blue River Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Maciah Driskill led the charge by scoring nine points along with 11 rebounds and four blocks. Another player making a difference was Taylor Shelton, who scored nine points.
Blue River Valley is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. As for Union County, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8.
Blue River Valley will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Union City at 10:00 a.m. on December 29th. Hopefully Union City focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 33 last Saturday. Union County will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Connersville at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2024.
