The Bethel Bison will face off against the Sumner Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Bethel is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Spanaway Lake with a sharp 12-2 victory on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Bison in their matchups with the Sentinels: they've now won seven in a row.

Jacob Vance made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Keegan Peck, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Josh Sidock was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Bethel hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Sumner, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They blew past Emerald Ridge 9-2 on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won eight matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Wyatt Plyler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, Xander Cypher was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Carl, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
Sumner's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Bethel, their victory bumped their record up to 4-13.
Bethel might still be hurting after the 9-3 defeat they got from Sumner when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Bison have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
