Even though the Astoria/VIT Rebels have not done well against the Midwest Central Raiders recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Astoria/VIT took down Midwest Central 56-41. The win made it back-to-back wins for Astoria/VIT.
Astoria/VIT had a senior duo take command as Ben Sherrod dropped a double-double on 25 points and 16 rebounds and Nic Huston scored 19 points along with 3 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Sherrod has scored at least 25% of Astoria/VIT's points. Kaden Foglesong was another key contributor, scoring 6 points along with 10 rebounds.
Astoria/VIT has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. As for Midwest Central, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Astoria/VIT will take on Biggsville West Central at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Biggsville West Central is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Midwest Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Deer Creek-Mackinaw at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
