The Northeastern Bobcats will head out to challenge the Spring Grove Rockets at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Northeastern's last matchup with Red Lion could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Monday. The Bobcats lost 14-6 to the Lions.
Lennon Hammaker was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He pitched eight innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Isaac Woods led a balanced group of hitters, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Cohen Reisenger, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Spring Grove unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of Dallastown by a score of 3-2.
Spring Grove saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brandon Bechtel, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Spring Grove now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Northeastern, their record now sits at 6-9.
Northeastern was able to grind out a solid victory over Spring Grove in their previous meeting on April 8th, winning 9-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bobcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
