Baseball Recap: East Duplin Find Success

East Duplin got themselves on the board against Wallace-Rose Hill on Friday, but Wallace-Rose Hill never followed suit. They walked away with a 4-0 win over the Bulldogs. This was payback for the Panthers, who suffered a 5-4 loss the last time these two teams met.

Wallace-Rose Hill's batters probably weren't too happy with Kyle Kern, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 14 Ks (he gave up three walks). Those 14 strikeouts gave Kern a new career-high.

At the plate, Gavin Holmes was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Austin Rouse, who scored two runs and stole three bases.

East Duplin is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. This is the second loss in a row for Wallace-Rose Hill and nudges their season record down to 2-7.
