The St. Mary's Saints's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 77-41 loss at the hands of North Raleigh Christian Academy. While losing is never fun, St. Mary's can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 354th, while the Knights are ranked 152nd).
St. Mary's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Helen Newcomb, who scored ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Sottini, who scored nine points.
St. Mary's has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. As for North Raleigh Christian Academy, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-13.
St. Mary's will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cavaliers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for North Raleigh Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against the Ravens at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Ravenscroft is on a three-game streak of home wins, the Knights a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
