Lathrop is 10-0 against North Pole since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. Both teams will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Alaska (Lathrop is ranked 39th, while North Pole is ranked 59th).
Last Friday, Lathrop came up short against Monroe Catholic and fell 51-42. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Lathrop has scored all season.
Despite the defeat, Lathrop had strong showings from Luke Skinner, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and two steals, and Atticus Foley, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Jamal Gosier, who scored six points.
Meanwhile, North Pole blew past Ben Eielson, posting a 56-17 win on the road. That 39 points margin sets a new team best for North Pole this season.
Lathrop now has a losing record at 4-5. As for North Pole, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 3-4 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Lathrop against North Pole in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 65-38 victory. Will Lathrop repeat their success, or does North Pole have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
