Basketball Recap: Lanie Saruse Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat First Assembly Christian

A well-balanced attack led Glen Iris Baptist over First Assembly Christian in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. The Glen Iris Baptist Swordsmen were the clear victor by a 42-17 margin over the First Assembly Christian Lions. The Swordsmen pushed the score to 29-8 by the end of the third, a deficit the Lions had little chance of recovering from.

Glen Iris Baptist's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lanie Saruse led the charge by putting up 13 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Another player making a difference was Rebekah Everett, who posted nine points and four steals.

Glen Iris Baptist's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-2. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 20.5 points per game. As for First Assembly Christian, they moved to 6-4 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Glen Iris Baptist will be playing at home against Trinity Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for First Assembly Christian, they will square off against Mt. Pleasant Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Mt. Pleasant Christian will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something First Assembly Christian surely won't give up without a fight.
