Softball Recap: Liberty County Extends Winning Streak to Two

Liberty County hadn't done well against Calvary Day recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Panthers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Cavaliers a 15-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won 18 games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Kayleigh Barnard was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in September.

In other batting news, Liberty County got a massive performance out of Amiyah Payne, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with five stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Layla Santiago, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Liberty County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Calvary Day only posted a batting average of .273.

The victory made it two in a row for Liberty County and bumps their season record up to 18-12. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Calvary Day, they dropped their record down to 1-15 with the loss, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

As of now, neither Liberty County nor the Cavaliers have any future games scheduled.
