The Eagle Ridge Academy Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight defeat. They were beaten by Kent Denver 60-31. Eagle Ridge Academy has not had much luck with Kent Denver recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Eagle Ridge Academy saw an underclassman step up: Carole Tamburino dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds. Tamburino is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down ten or more in the last 17 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Vianne Ruiz, who scored five points along with five steals.
Anya Peper was her usual excellent self, scoring 31 points along with six rebounds and five steals for Kent Denver. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Peper has scored all season. Austin Duncan was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 15 rebounds.
Eagle Ridge Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season. As for Kent Denver, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 17-3.
Eagle Ridge Academy will be playing at home against Stargate School at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Stargate School focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 last Tuesday. As for Kent Denver, they will head out on the road to face off against Jefferson Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kent Denver is coming into the match with three straight wins on the road, so Jefferson Academy is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum.
