Shorecrest Prep has gone 9-1 against St. Petersburg Catholic recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the rust and duke it out at 4:15 p.m. One thing working in Shorecrest Prep's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last four matchups.
While Shorecrest Prep didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Everything went their way against Cambridge Christian last Thursday as Shorecrest Prep made off with a 17-0 victory. Considering the Chargers have won four contests by more than ten runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Bobbie Strus made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.
In other batting news, Shorecrest Prep let Sonia Anderson and Madi Bidwell run wild. Anderson went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Bidwell went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one double. That home run was Anderson's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Sarah Ayscue, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
Shorecrest Prep kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 29 runs the game before, St. Petersburg Catholic was a bit more limited in their game last Thursday. They lost 24-1 to Saint Stephen's Episcopal. The Barons have struggled against the Falcons recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.
St. Petersburg Catholic saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lillian Barnard, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double and one RBI.
St. Petersburg Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Shorecrest Prep, their record is now 5-1.
St. Petersburg Catholic's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Shorecrest Prep hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .393. It's a different story for St. Petersburg Catholic, though, as they've only averaged .250. Will they be able to contain Shorecrest Prep's hitters?
Shorecrest Prep took their win against St. Petersburg Catholic in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 20-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for Shorecrest Prep since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
