Ridge Spring-Monetta is 8-2 against Calhoun County since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. Ridge Spring-Monetta came out on top against Eastside on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fourth inning. The Trojans were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Eagles. The high-scoring effort was just what the Trojans needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Adalynn Holsomback was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with five RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Caroline Pace was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Sophia Ildefonso, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Ridge Spring-Monetta kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 11.6.
Meanwhile, Calhoun County was not able to break out of their rough patch last Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 17-2 to Wagener-Salley.
Calhoun County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madison Parker, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and two RBI. That triple was Parker's first of the season.
Ridge Spring-Monetta has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Calhoun County, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Ridge Spring-Monetta hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .345. However, it's not like Calhoun County struggles in that department as they've averaged .362. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Ridge Spring-Monetta's way against Calhoun County when the teams last played back in March, as Ridge Spring-Monetta made off with a 7-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
