Baseball Recap: Saturday's Win Is Akron's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

Akron had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They blew past the Otis Bulldogs 14-1 on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won 12 matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Tucker Stahn was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Akron let Kolten Randel and Caleb Poss run wild. Randel went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Poss went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Randel has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Merek Charney was another key player, earning one RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Akron always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.

Akron has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season. As for Otis, their loss dropped their record down to 16-7.

Coming up, Akron will host Simla at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. The Cubs will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something the Rams surely won't give up without a fight. Otis does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
