The Hollins Royals's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a 66-50 bruising from St. Petersburg. While losing is never fun, Hollins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 441st, while St. Petersburg is ranked 149th).
Malachi Miller and Aidan Lemons certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Miller dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds, while Lemons scored 18 points along with six rebounds. Lemons is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last five games he's played.
Hollins has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-7 record this season. As for St. Petersburg, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-5.
Hollins will take on Boca Ciega at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Boca Ciega knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Hollins likes a good challenge. As for St. Petersburg, they will head out on the road to take on Clearwater at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday. Clearwater is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
