Given their disadvantage in the MaxPreps state rankings, Umatilla should expect quite the challenge on Friday. They take on Clatskanie at Umatilla at 7:00 PM. Clatskanie will be strutting in after a victory while Umatilla will be stumbling in from a loss.
Last week, Umatilla couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were given a punishing 12-56 defeat at the hands of Rainier.
Meanwhile, Clatskanie took care of business in their home opener. They were fully in charge, breezing past Heppner 46-0. The team accrued the bulk of their points in the first half (40) and coasted on those for the win.
Umatilla's defeat took them down to 0-1 while Clatskanie's win pulled them up to 1-0. A win for Umatilla would reverse both their bad luck and Clatskanie's good luck. We'll see if Umatilla manages to pull off that tough task or if Clatskanie keeps their momentum going instead.
