Marlin is 10-0 against Wortham since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Marlin Bulldogs will look to defend their home court against the Wortham Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. The timing is sure in Marlin's favor as the squad sits on six straight wins at home while Wortham has been banged up by ten consecutive losses on the road.
In what's become a running theme this season, Marlin gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 80-53 win over Hubbard at home. Given Marlin's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 480th, while Hubbard is ranked 1058th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Marlin's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jordan Womack led the charge by scoring 14 points along with eight rebounds. Mario Hopwood was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Even though Wortham has not done well against Riesel recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Wortham walked away with a 47-34 win over Riesel. That 13 points margin sets a new team best for Wortham this season.
Marlin's win bumped their record up to 11-4. As for Wortham, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-12.
