The Berean Baptist Academy Bulldogs are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will challenge the Oak City Prep Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Berean Baptist Academy has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 211 points over their last three contests.
Berean Baptist Academy is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing New Life Christian Academy: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Bulldogs blew the Monarchs out of the water with a 70-16 final score. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Bulldogs had established a 48-point advantage.
Berean Baptist Academy's win last Tuesday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Amari Davis, who shot 63% from the field en route to 11 points and six assists. Amari Goggins was another key player, going 5-for-7 on his way to 14 points.
They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Berean Baptist Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as New Life Christian Academy only racked up four.
Meanwhile, Oak City Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 59-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Trinity Christian. The contest marked the Bears' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Berean Baptist Academy will need to focus on slowing down Amazin Dixon, one of several Oak City Prep players who made an impact when they last played. He shot 67% from the field to rack up 25 points and five boards. Dixon's big performance that evening made it 24 games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Tyieon Wilson, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and ten rebounds.
Oak City Prep now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Berean Baptist Academy, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Berean Baptist Academy has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 33.3 boards per game. However, it's not like Oak City Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.8 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
