5A Region III District 19 recap October 8, 2013
Seven Lakes extended the longest winning streak in 5A Region III District 19 this week by beating Katy Taylor, 24-7. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Spartans.
Morton Ranch lost to Cinco Ranch 21-3 last week, the largest margin of any game.
The Cougars' dynamic duo of Luke Klingler and Sam Straughan proved tough for the Mavericks to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Klingler threw for 243 yards and 2 touchdowns and Straughan had 95 yards receiving. Corey Ceniceros helped Cinco Ranch's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 83 yards.
Tito Ejiogu was a key player and the best on defense this week as Strake Jesuit lost to Memorial. The 6-foot-0 defensive lineman recorded 1 fumble.
He went 9-23 with 1 interception.
The Crusaders' Colby Chapman and Christian McStravick have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-1 quarterback Chapman has thrown for 1,068 yards this season, while McStravick has 30 catches for 400 yards. Rodney Anderson from Katy leads the league in rushing with 715 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Mayde Creek takes on Cinco Ranch. At the moment, the Rams are in sixth, while Don Clayton's team is in third.
