Softball Recap: Central Catholic Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Central Catholic entered their tilt with Sandy on Wednesday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They came out on top against the Pioneers by a score of 10-7. This was a revenge game for the Rams: when they faced off against the Pioneers back in April, they had to take a 9-7 loss.

Portland Razo and Olivia Pompetti did most of the damage at the plate: Razo went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases and two runs, while Pompetti got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most doubles Pompetti has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Sidney Ginter, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Central Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in five consecutive matchups.

Central Catholic pushed their record up to 8-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Sandy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-8.
