King's Academy has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Priory Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
King's Academy stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They put the hurt on Crystal Springs Uplands with a sharp 61-40 win. Given King's Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 170th, while the Gryphons are ranked 933rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bryce Sherman continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, almost dropping a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Hughey, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, even though Eastside College Prep scored an imposing 55 points on Friday, Priory still came out on top. Priory snuck past the Panthers with a 59-55 win. The win was just what Priory needed coming off of a 66-40 loss in their prior match.
Priory found their leader in underclassman Teddy Xanthopoulos, who scored 14 points. Jai Georedette was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
King's Academy is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. As for Priory, their win bumped their record up to 10-11.
King's Academy strolled past the Panthers when the teams last played back in January by a score of 65-48. The rematch might be a little tougher for King's Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
