Raelyn Loud made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Adeline Olbrych was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Izzabella Harper, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Palmer got their first taste of in-conference action on Thursday and they started things off strong. They were the clear victors by a 19-7 margin over Holyoke. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Palmer got a massive performance out of Amhia Mcelreavy, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI. Those four stolen bases gave Mcelreavy a new career-high. Harper Broulliette was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Palmer always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. They are 2-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Palmer's win bumped their record up to 3-9. As for Chicopee, their victory bumped their record up to 14-0.
Palmer's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Chicopee has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.1 hits per game. It's a different story for Palmer, though, as they've been averaging 11.6 hits. Given Chicopee's sizable advantage in that area, the Panthers will need to find a way to close that gap.
Chicopee got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in April against Palmer by a conclusive 18-6 score. Do the Pacers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
