NCSSM: Morganton's's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 74-4 loss at the hands of Avery County. NCSSM: Morganton was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 57-0.
Zoie Mcclarrin was her usual excellent self, scoring 17 points for Avery County. Mcclarrin hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Marley Jones, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and three steals.
NCSSM: Morganton bumped their record down to 1-6 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 8.0 points per game. As for Avery County, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. NCSSM: Morganton will take on Mitchell at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Avery County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mountain Heritage at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mountain Heritage is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
