Football Recap: Deland Piles Up the Points Against New Smyrna Beach

DeLand had to skate by with only a one-point margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 35-point drubbing they dealt New Smyrna Beach on Friday. The Bulldogs simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Barracudas 56-21. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Barracudas recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Marceles Carey had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 125 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only eight carries, and also picked up 97 receiving yards. Ryan Joseph helped out on the ground, rushing for 116 yards.

Despite the loss, New Smyrna Beach still got an impressive performance from Cole Engler, who threw for 225 yards and three TDs.

DeLand's record is now 2-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. DeLand will welcome Merritt Island at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for New Smyrna Beach, they will be playing at home against Ransom Everglades at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
