Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Bridges Prep

Bridges Prep entered their tilt with Lake Marion on Thursday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They were the clear victors by a 23-2 margin over the Gators. Considering the Buccaneers have won six contests by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Carly Herndon made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Bridges Prep got a massive performance out of Trinity Jolly, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Jolly is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last eight games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tatiana Anchando, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Bridges Prep kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 3.8 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 10.4.

Bridges Prep's victory bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Lake Marion, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-8.

Bridges Prep and Lake Marion will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next games. The next time the Buccaneers see the field they'll take on Cross at 6:00 p.m. on the 28th. As for Lake Marion, their break will end when they face Barnwell at 6:30 p.m. on the 13th.
