Football Recap: Manvel Piles Up the Points Against Alvin

Manvel never let their opponents score on Friday. They breezed past the Alvin Yellowjackets to the tune of 55-0. Considering the Mavericks have won five games by more than 30 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Cam Renfro was his usual excellent self, rushing for 94 yards and a pair of scores, while also throwing for 146 yards and two TDs. His passing game has become a key predictor of Manvel's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Eric Mosley III, who gained 91 total yards and a touchdown.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Manvel proved: they limited Alvin to a paltry 0.8 yards per carry. The team can thank Brayson Robinson for the heroic effort on defense: he. Manvel didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 7.6.

Special teams was a major factor in the game for Manvel, racking up 13 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of (Greedy) Karnell James Jr, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

The victory (which was Manvel's third in a row) raised their record to 5-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.7 points over those games. As for Alvin, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

Coincidentally, Manvel and Alvin will both be playing Dawson the next time they take the field. The Yellowjackets will host the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Mavericks will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st.
