Victoria Kleeman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Addie Stanley and Morgyn Perkins did most of the damage at the plate: Stanley went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Perkins got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. Isabella Deledda was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.
18 must be Immaculate's lucky number: they beat Bridgeport International Academy with that score not once but twice on Monday. The Mustangs beat Bridgeport International Academy by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 18-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.
Immaculate also got a great performance from Sophia Schnatz as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over 4.2 innings pitched.
At the plate, Karina Soni was incredible, going 4-for-5 with four runs, three RBI, and one double. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Laurel Pucci, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
Immaculate always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .632. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Wheeler is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Immaculate, their win bumped their record up to 15-8.
Wheeler suffered a grim 13-0 defeat to Immaculate in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
