We expected the Mascoutah Indians to have trouble with the significantly higher-ranked the O'Fallon Panthers on Tuesday, and they did. The Indians have to be aching after a bruising 80-51 defeat to O'Fallon. Mascoutah won against O'Fallon in their previous head-to-head earlier this month, too, but their margin this time around was much wider than that 64-54 finish.
The loss dropped Mascoutah back to even at 14-14. The win -- their fourth in a row -- raised O'Fallon's record to 22-5.
Mascoutah will take on Waterloo Friday. If you head out to watch the game, expect to stay the whole 32 minutes: the MaxPreps rankings predict a close game. As for the Panthers, they will go up against East St. Louis Friday. East St. Louis took a loss in their last matchup and are no doubt out to reverse O'Fallon's good fortune.
