The Woodland Beavers took care of business in their home opener on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 58-39 victory over Kalama. That's another feather in the cap for Woodland, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Kalama's loss came despite strong showings from Abel Koski and Jevan Lucente. Koski scored 11 points along with 6 rebounds, while Lucente scored 9 points along with 3 blocks. Another player making a difference was Drew Schlangen, who scored 4 points along with 3 steals.
Woodland's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Kalama, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Woodland will take on Columbia River at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Kalama, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Columbia Adventist Academy at 7:00 p.m.
