Cary and Green Hope are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Imps will square off against the Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cary is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.4 runs per game this season.
Cary couldn't beat Middle Creek on Tuesday even though they stacked six runs on them in the sixth inning. The Imps came up short against the Mustangs, falling 20-12. The Imps have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Owen Green was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs, two doubles, and one triple. Cam Shea was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Green Hope). They were the clear victors by a 15-2 margin over Felton Grove on Wednesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Falcons considering their one-run performance the matchup before.
Elijah Martin was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one triple. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February of 2025. Another player making a difference was Troy Haynes, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Green Hope always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Green Hope's win bumped their record up to 7-13. As for Cary, their loss dropped their record down to 10-4.
Green Hope's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Cary hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .354. It's a different story for Green Hope, though, as they've only averaged .255. Will they be able to contain Cary's hitters?
Cary came out on top in a nail-biter against Green Hope in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, sneaking past 6-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Imps since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
