Early County has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Mitchell County Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Early County knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully Mitchell County likes a good challenge.
Early County scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They breezed by Quitman County at home to the tune of 86-36. With Early County ahead 47-19 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Among those leading the charge was K'eMarion Pugh, who scored eight points along with six steals and five rebounds. Nathaniel Tinson was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with four steals and two blocks.
Meanwhile, Mitchell County unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 55-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Calhoun County. Mitchell County has struggled against Calhoun County recently, as their game on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Early County is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. As for Mitchell County, their defeat ended a 16-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-3.
Early County couldn't quite finish off Mitchell County when the teams last played back in December of 2023 and fell 46-43. Can Early County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
