The Lamar Raiders fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They took their contest on the road on Friday with ease, bagging a 69-26 victory over Victory Christian. That looming 69-26 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Lamar yet this season.
Lamar's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cooper Gordy, who scored 15 points. That's the first time this season that Gordy scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Jackson Whitcomb, who scored 15 points.
Lamar's win bumped their record up to 6-12. As for Victory Christian, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lamar will take on East Rankin Academy at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. East Rankin Academy is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. Victory Christian will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Eastwood Christian at 12:00 p.m. on January 12, 2024.
