Seacrest Country Day is 8-2 against Neumann since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. Caroline Porter was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up six earned (and seven unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Jolie Booth was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Finley Magee-Fullam also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Neumann, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over Cypress Lake on Thursday. The Celtics might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.
The result came thanks to Sophia Escobar's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 18 Ks. Those 18 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
On the hitting side, Brooke Shefsky was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacie Barth, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
Neumann's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for Seacrest Country Day, the loss was their first at home , dropping their record down to 3-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Seacrest Country Day has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Neumann struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
