Cross Schools suffered a rough 62-40 loss at the hands of John Paul II on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Cross Schools has suffered yet this season.
Several Stingrays players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ryan Mayers, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Mayers hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. PJ Benson was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five assists and four steals.
Cross Schools struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as John Paul II racked up 17 assists.
Brady Mahoney was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 24 points and 12 rebounds for John Paul II. Another player making a difference was Lily Termini, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Cross Schools' defeat ended a eight-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-4. As for John Paul II, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
