Softball Recap: Meigs Wins Going Away Against Portsmouth

Meigs won the last time they faced Portsmouth and things went their way on Saturday too. The Marauders put the hurt on the Trojans with a sharp 9-2 win. The Marauders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.

Natalie Goode made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, Chloe Burnem was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Bella Roush was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Meigs was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meigs has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Portsmouth, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.

Meigs didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-1 victory against Wellston on the 16th. As for Portsmouth, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 10-0 loss against Greenup County on the 15th.
