Ashland took the match and then some with a 54-7 win on Friday over Western Plains. Ashland were expected to win, but the margin was definitely larger than the state rankings had forecast. The game pushed Western Plains down to 0-2 and pulled Ashland up to the reverse at 2-0.
Both teams are staying within the conference for their upcoming matches. Ashland will have some time to rest before their next matchup, which is against Pawnee Heights in two weeks. The teams have set a high bar for this matchup after stand-out offensive performances in their previous contests. Western Plains looks to establish their home field advantage next week as they take on Fowler at 7:00 PM.
