The South Eugene Axe's's found some homefield redemption this week after a tough overtime loss to the Sunset Apollos on Friday. South Eugene had just enough and edged South Salem out 73-70. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
South Eugene was led to victory by Levi Hawes and Landyn Bryant. Hawes dropped a double-double on 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Bryant scored 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Harrison Thomas, who scored 8 points along with 5 rebounds.
South Eugene now has a winning record of 2-1. As for South Salem, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Eugene will take on Southridge at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. South Salem will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Glencoe on December 27th.
