Coronado is a perfect 4-0 against Plainview since March of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Mustangs will host the Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Coronado is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Palo Duro on Tuesday as they made off with a 22-8 victory. The win continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Dons: they've now won six in a row.
Lexi Jones was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was even better at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Arianna Gutierrez was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Abbie Madrid, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, one double, and one RBI.
Coronado was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .486. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Plainview, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over Palo Duro on Thursday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Bulldogs needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
The victory was their first on the road, bumping their record up to 5-16. As for Plainview, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 3-15.
Everything went Coronado's way against Plainview in their previous meeting back in March of 2025, as Coronado made off with a 13-3 victory. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
