Volleyball Recap: Burges Comes Up Short

Burges lost against Chapin back in September and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Mustangs fell 3-1 to the Huskies. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 20-25, 25-14, 25-21.

When it comes to explaining why Burges lost, don't look at Emilly Banuelos. Despite the final result, she had 27 digs and two assists. Banuelos is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 14 or more in each of the last 15 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Paradieselynn Fuimaono, who had eight digs and five aces.

Chapin found their leader in sophomore Gianna Dominguez, who had 33 digs and two aces. Those 33 digs set a new season-high mark for Dominguez. Genesis Torres was another key player, getting 13 digs and three aces.

Burges' defeat dropped their record down to 20-10. As for Chapin, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 27-7 record this season.

Burges didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Hanks on the 30th. As for Chapin, they have also already played their next match, a 3-0 win against El Dorado on the 30th.
