2A Tri-Peaks recap September 4, 2013
Zach Hoxie of Florence ran for the longest rushing play in 2A Tri-Peaks this season against The Academy last week. Hoxie scampered for 72 yards on the play and finished with 163 on the day as his team topped the Wildcats.
Hoxie and Cody Giebel provided fans with a highlight when they connected against The Academy. The connection was good for 54 yards, the longest such play in the league this season.
Lamar's dynamic duo of Draven Adame and Payden Breneman proved tough for Burlington to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Adame threw for 127 yards and Breneman had 72 yards receiving.
The Savages' dynamic duo of Adame and Breneman proved to be unstoppable against the Cougars, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Ben Breier was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 174 yards on 30 carries as St. Mary's beat Burlington. Hayden Smith also contributed to the rushing game with 10 yards on the ground.
Breneman was the best receiver in 2A Tri-Peaks this week as Jason Tice's team topped Glynn Higgs' team.
Hoxie provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Florence defeated Park Vogel's team. Hoxie's favorite target this week was Giebel, who caught 2 passes for 72 yards.
Taylor Nelson was a key player and the best on defense this week as the Pirates fell to Colorado Springs Christian. He racked up 2.0 sacks.
Adame put up the best numbers through the air as the Savages bested the Cougars.

Manitou Springs was the team made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from fourth to first in the league. The Mustangs defeated Manual 46-0 earlier in the week.
