The Eagle Rock Eagles will face off against the South Gate Rams at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Eagle Rock comes in on four and South Gate on three.
Eagle Rock's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They blew past Lincoln 10-0. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.
Marcella Terrazas was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Marysol Jernigan, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Dalaine Trujillo was another key player, earning two RBI, one run, and one stolen base.
Eagle Rock kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 11-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
South Gate came out on top against Huntington Park last Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run fourth inning. The Rams put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 15-5 win.
Like Eagle Rock, South Gate also got a great game from a two-way player: Barbara Siero. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Siero was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Leah Jimenez was incredible, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Aylin Acevedo, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Eagle Rock pushed their record up to 16-6 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.1 runs over those games. As for South Gate, their victory bumped their record up to 11-16.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Eagle Rock hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .367. However, it's not like South Gate struggles in that department as they've averaged .332. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Eagle Rock's way against South Gate when the teams last played back in April of 2017, as Eagle Rock made off with a 14-1 win. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rams turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
