The Wausau West Warriors fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the D.C. Everest Evergreens on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 61-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Evergreens. Wausau West was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as D.C. Everest apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Wausau West's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brett Butalla, who scored 15 points along with five assists. Butalla has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Hager, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Wausau West's loss dropped their record down to 13-7. As for D.C. Everest, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-14.
Wausau West will head out on the road to take on Wausau East at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wausau East has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 709 points over their last ten contests. As for D.C. Everest, they will take on Wisconsin Dells at 5:50 p.m. on Saturday.
