North Duplin is 2-8 against Lakewood since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The North Duplin Rebels' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Lakewood Leopards at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. Hopefully North Duplin focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Tuesday.
North Duplin struggled with threes on Tuesday (Neuse Charter had five more) and sadly the final score reflected it. The match between the pair wasn't particularly close, with North Duplin falling 64-47. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points they have scored all season.
The losing side was boosted by Micah Lesesane, who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Dujuan Armwood, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Lakewood scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Union as Lakewood made off with a 70-49 win. That looming 70-49 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Lakewood yet this season.
Kristofer Robinson was his usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that he scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Juan Parker Jr., who scored 15 points along with two steals.
North Duplin's loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 4-9. As for Lakewood, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.
Friday's game will pit two of the most dominant against one another: Armwood and Cameron Williams. Armwood has been dynamite this season: he has averaged 17.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 2.7 assists. For his part, Williams has averaged 14 points and 7 rebounds.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: North Duplin have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 34.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Lakewood struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 30.8 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
