After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Arizona Lutheran Academy, the Kingman Academy Tigers were happy to have found some success on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 43-40 win over Heritage Academy. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Kingman Academy has posted yet this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Kingman Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mason Anderson, who scored eight points along with three blocks. That's the first time this season that Anderson posted two or more blocks. Josh White was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with 12 rebounds.
Heritage Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cameron Irby, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonathan Mccaine, who scored seven points.
Kingman Academy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 6-10 record this season. As for Heritage Academy, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kingman Academy on the road again on Friday and play against Mohave Accelerated at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th. That game will pit two of the most dominant against one another: JAXON HONEGGER and White. As for Heritage Academy, they will head out on the road to take on NFL Yet Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. NFL Yet Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 283rd, while Heritage Academy is ranked 134th).
