After flying high against the Grayslake North Knights two weeks ago, the Lakes Eagles came back down to earth. Lakes fell 50-39 to Antioch on Wednesday. Lakes has struggled against Antioch recently, as their match on Wednesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Lakes' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Inclarity Turney, who scored 11 points along with four steals and three blocks. Turney is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Madison Twarling, who scored 16 points.
Antioch found their leader in underclassman Heidi Rathmann, who scored 26 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Rathmann has scored at least a third of Antioch's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Webb, who scored eight points.
Lakes has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. As for Antioch, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-6.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Round Lake the next time they take the court. Antioch will head out to face Round Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Lakes will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
