There's no place like home for the Academy of the New Church Lions, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Saturday. They came out on top against Friends' Central by a score of 64-51 on Wednesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Academy of the New Church also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Academy of the New Church's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ryan Warren, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. Dior Carter was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Several Friends' Central players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Fazl Oshodi, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Muhsin Muhammad, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Academy of the New Church has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. As for Friends' Central, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-3.
Academy of the New Church won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Hun at 5:30 p.m. on January 11th. Hun has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 456 points over their last six contests. As for Friends' Central, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against George School at 8:00 p.m. George School will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 180th, while Friends' Central is ranked 23rd).
