It was a good run, but the Liberty Union Lions unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell to Morgan 50-44. Liberty Union was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Morgan apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Liberty Union's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Luke Williams, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and four steals, and Tomas Winter who scored 17 points. That's the first time this season that Williams grabbed two or more steals. Another player making a difference was Cooper Manson, who scored five points along with nine rebounds and three blocks.
Liberty Union's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-5. As for Morgan, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Liberty Union will challenge Licking Valley at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Owen Hottinger and Williams. Morgan is on the road again on Friday and play against New Lexington at 7:00 p.m. on January 5th.
